Statements

Since I have memory I have liked the geography, the cultures, the maps, the letters, the histories of the trips, and the trips.

Once raised the adventure on the canvas in white I rush in a catastrophe between powerful and forceful territories and a embroidery of invented graphic designs or volume borrowed such ancient cultures as the Pre- Columbian, the Japanese, the Australian.

As well as in the old maps. Almost without borders.

An Invitation to do a visual journey, in the dreams world.

Note about  series

Paradises

… “A laborious work carried out in a sort of multidimensional cartography invites us to share an intense visual trip.

That is the outset or attraction principle that Fátima proposed as imaginary leitmotiv once trapped in the adventure we find ourselves in a dizzy catastrophe patiently and indolently produced due to the extreme tension between powerful and overwhelming planes of color and a tiny and meticulous embroidery.

The apparently weak fine lines, when you first look at them, set a sharp containment to the expansive color volumes wich are challenging on the canvas surface.

In the interstices, the nib develops smart textures, formal insinuations storylines and endless graphics gifted with diverse dynamics, clearly independent of the colorful masses with act as a habitable backwater in the middle of the threatening collapse.

Effectively, it is about a flagrant dichotomy just as the one we could observe in a great geographic map, where the water and the earth do not admit confusions.

In the past, maps included apart from the basic cartography, dragons, monsters of different nature, masks with plump cheeks due to blowing winds, diverse graphics showing specific features of various places, trying to show both the known and the unknown.

In a time in which maps have exacerbated with tireless precision the territorial representation where the known has acquired an almost absolute value, these “ cartograms”, innocently conceived by the artist.

Pleasantly catastrophic, capricious and with no logic other than the plastic ethics, supported by a refined symbiosis between drawing and painting, might legitimately bear the title of Paradises”…
